Pocono Record -With recreation options narrowed by the COVID-19 pandemic, more people are getting outdoors in the Poconos — but with more fun comes more trash, and not everyone disposes of it properly. Piles of trash have accumulated in the woods across from the Point of Gap Overlook parking lot on Pennsylvania Route 611. One heap observed Wednesday included two folded up camping chairs amid paper plates, plastic cups, drink cans and bottles, aluminum foil and a charcoal bag, among other items.
“It breaks my heart,” said Timothy Young, a frequent visitor from a few minutes away in New Jersey. Some of the trash is close enough to the Delaware River that it may be swept in by rain, he pointed out, and it could also attract animals including bears.
