Trails, roadsides get pick-me-ups in Great American Cleanup of Pa.

– A stretch of borough road is a lot less unsightly thanks to a group of local Scouts and their parents who picked up litter there Saturday, as part of the 2015 Great American Cleanup of PA.

Sponsored by the national organization Keep America Beautiful, the Keystone State program that began March 1 and ends May 31 seeks to involve community and civic associations, schools, youth groups and businesses.

The boys from Pack 44 and Troop 44 of Taylor and Moosic and their parents donned fluorescent orange vests and white canvas gloves to pick up trash thrown out along Union Street by others. Their haul included beer bottles, water bottles, coffee cups, 11 cents, a baseball, broken glass, a pair of underwear and many, many cigarette butts, to name a few items.
