Event helps eliminate potential mosquito breeding habitats

The Daily Item – COAL TOWNSHIP — The Northumberland County Conservation District collected more than 2,400 old tires on Saturday during a collection event to help eliminate potential mosquito breeding habitat and reduce West Nile Virus transmission. As part of a collaborative effort with PA Department of Environmental Protection and Keep PA Beautiful, the District’s Mosquito borne Disease Control Program hosted the event at the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area in Coal Township. The conservation district covers Northumberland, Snyder, Union, Montour and Columbia counties.
