Coronavirus pandemic contributes to increase in littering

The Meadville Tribune – The COVID-19 pandemic is having another impact — an increase in littering. Whether it’s in state parks or off area roadways, there’s been an increase in junk just being dumped since some spring cleanup events were canceled due to the pandemic, according to state officials. Sometimes, the items discarded aren’t just normal household trash either. Recently, a pickup truck bed liner, tires and a sofa were dumped at the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission’s French Creek access area off Wilson Chute Road, south of Meadville. “It’s just shameful,” said Jeffrey Fink of Meadville, who contacted the Tribune recently about the mess left behind. “I’ve enjoyed French Creek my entire life. It’s really a blatant disregard for others enjoyment of the outdoors.”
